Servants of Silent Agony were formed in Akranes in the form of the two guitarists Marino Raven and Jobbi playing metal together about a year and a half ago (2007). In mid 2008, Jobbi began jamming with a guitarist called Bragi as well. At one point, Raven played drums with them in a few rehearsals. Raven was also involved in a band called Cradlestone (playing acoustic guitar and singing lead vox), a southern rock band, which suddenly lost all members exept him whilst rehearsing for the FVA 2008 Musical Contest. Enter Ástţór, who took over bass duties when Cradlestone's bass player left. Jobbi and Bragi decided to join forces with Raven and Ástţór (vica versa), and form a metal group, with the name " Servants of Silent Agony" (initials, S.o.S.A. , the icelandic word for "Sauce") After about one and a half day of practice of their first song "Traitor" (Jobbi/Raven), they participated in the FVA Musical Contest, and came in first place of 6 bands that were still on the running towards winning the title of "2008's best band FVA". On the show, Raven played drums whilst handling voice duties, Ástţór played bass guitar, Jobbi the lead guitar and Bragi rhythm guitar. Undankeppni fyrir Tónlistarkeppni FVA 2008 After that show, a mutual friend, Simon offered to play the drums, and instead, Raven went back to playing guitar as well as singing/growling. As of now, they have just recently competed in the last round of FVA 2008, in which Raven got an award for being the best guitar player in the competition, but the band went home without a reward, which they are all very angry and frustrated about, understandibly.
